Insurance & Payments

Does my insurance cover therapy?

We work with United Healthcare/ Optum, Cigna, Magellan, Aetna, Humana and some EAPs. To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, call the number on the back of your insurance card for your coverage and benefits.

What are important questions to ask my insurance provider?

  • Do I have mental health or behavioral health benefits?

  • Does my policy cover outpatient psychotherapy services?

  • Does my policy cover telehealth services for counseling?

  • What is my copay per session?

  • Is there a specific billing code that should be used?

  • Are there any specific restrictions around the service, such limited sessions? Or is it contracted to another company like Teledoc or MDLive?

  • Is the therapist I want to work with in network or out of network?

While we will verify benefits as a courtesy, it is always the client’s responsibility to be familiar with and verify their own benefits. The client is responsible for any amount that insurance doesn't cover.

Insurance authorization should be received prior to the session or the client will be responsible for the full cost of the session.

We currently only accept credit cards and debit cards as a form of payment.

*Serenity Counseling & Solutions has a card on file policy*

What is your cancellation policy?

Therapy appointments MUST be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged the full cost of the session. Your card information will be kept on file for No Shows and/or Late Cancellations.
